This book came highly recommended by some science fiction websites and had some good quotes on the cover… but can Luke trust what others say about John Varley’s Red Thunder?

- Luke mentioned the book "Bored, Nothing to Do" and was amused to read the reviews on Amazon.com. For example:
"5.0 out of 5 stars This book was clearly my favorite as a child. Ever since then, I have been enthralled with airplanes, and I have always tried to see what I am capable of doing, just like the brothers in this book. 17 years since my first reading, I am now graduating with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Coincidence?... I think not."

It sounds like the key points in this book are a rip-off of the 1985 film Explorers. It also sounds like the movie was vastly superior and even more realistic -- to say nothing of having an alien who does a terrific air-guitar rendition of Little Richard's All Around the World. :-) Karl 11:47, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
